What is new on the 2027 Nissan Kicks?

The one change Nissan made for 2027 is the Rock Creek package, offered on the Kicks SV with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. It brings 17-inch Rock Creek alloy wheels, a roof rack, gloss black trim, amber daytime running lights, heated front seats, an Off-Road drive mode and Hill Descent Control.

Rock Creek has been a Nissan sub-brand on the Pathfinder and the Rogue for a while. The Kicks is the newest nameplate to get it, which Nissan announced on August 13, 2026. Everything else on the 2027 Kicks carries over.

Two of the additions are worth more than the look. The Off-Road drive mode retunes traction for loose surfaces, and Hill Descent Control holds a steady speed on a steep grade without the driver riding the brake. On the gravel roads running off VA-57 toward Fairy Stone State Park, both earn their keep.

What the Rock Creek package adds to a 2027 Nissan Kicks SV with AWD
AdditionWhat it actually does
Intelligent All-Wheel DriveStandard with the package rather than optional. Sends torque rearward when the front tires start to slip.
Off-Road drive modeA fourth drive mode tuned for slippery and loose surfaces, on top of Normal, Eco and Sport.
Hill Descent ControlHolds a low set speed down a grade so the driver can steer instead of braking.
17-inch Rock Creek alloy wheelsPackage-specific design. The standard SV runs 17-inch steel wheels with covers.
Roof rackFitted as part of the package, for a cargo box, a bike carrier or lumber on a Saturday.
Cold-weather kitHeated front seats, heated mirrors and rear floor heater ducts, all bundled in.
Camera and braking techHD Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, plus Rear Automatic Braking.
AppearanceGloss black lower fascias and exterior accents, amber daytime running lights, TailorFit seating with accent stitching.

Every item in that table comes from Nissan's own 2027 Kicks press kit. Rock Creek is a package on the SV, not a separate grade, so you order it on an SV with all-wheel drive.

Choosing a grade

Which 2027 Nissan Kicks grade fits a Martinsville driver?

The 2027 Nissan Kicks comes in S, SV and SR grades, and every one can be ordered with front-wheel drive or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. S covers the basics on 16-inch wheels. SV is the volume grade and the only one that takes Rock Creek. SR adds 19-inch wheels and ProPILOT Assist.

The split is simpler than most lineups because the hardware underneath does not change. Same 2.0L engine, same Xtronic CVT, same 8.4 inches of ground clearance, same Safety Shield 360 on all three.

GradeDrivetrainWheelsWhat it is good for
SFWD or Intelligent AWD16-inch steel with coversA first car or a second car. Still gets the 12.3-inch screen and Safety Shield 360.
SVFWD or Intelligent AWD17-inch steel with covers, 17-inch alloy availableThe middle of the range, and the only grade that can be ordered with Rock Creek.
SV with Rock CreekIntelligent AWD, standard with the package17-inch Rock Creek alloyGravel, snow and the hauling you do with a roof rack. Adds Off-Road mode and Hill Descent Control.
SRFWD or Intelligent AWD17-inch alloy standard, 19-inch alloy availableThe highway commuter. ProPILOT Assist, 12.3-inch digital dashboard, touch-sensitive climate panel.

Nissan's own 2027 Kicks photography. Alloy wheels like these come standard on the SR and are available on the SV; the S and the standard SV run steel wheels with covers. No photograph in Nissan's 2027 set shows the Rock Creek package. Whichever grade you pick, the engine, the transmission and the 8.4 inches of ground clearance underneath are the same ones you drive on US-220 through Henry County.

If the drive is mostly US-220 and US-58, the SR is the one to sit in. If it is school pickup in Collinsville and a gravel driveway off Chatham Road, the SV with Rock Creek is the better buy. Our Kicks inventory page shows what is actually on the lot this week.

Traction

Does the 2027 Nissan Kicks come with all-wheel drive?

Yes. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is available on every 2027 Nissan Kicks grade, and it is standard when you order the Rock Creek package. AWD adds a Snow drive mode. On US-220 north toward Rocky Mount in late February, that extra traction earns its place.

The run over the Blue Ridge

US-220 north out of Martinsville is the Virgil H. Goode Highway. It climbs between Cahas Mountain and the Blue Ridge at Boones Mill and crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway at Murray Gap. That stretch ices before anything in town does.

What AWD costs you

One mpg across the EPA cycle, and some cargo volume, because all-wheel-drive Kicks use a multilink rear suspension instead of the front-driver's twist beam. Nothing else changes.

Where it stops

The 2027 Nissan Kicks is a subcompact crossover with 8.4 inches of ground clearance, not a 4x4. It handles a snowy climb and a forest-service road. It is not built for rock crawling, and we will say so.

Fuel economy

What gas mileage does the 2027 Nissan Kicks get?

EPA rates the 2027 Nissan Kicks at 28 city, 35 highway and 31 combined with front-wheel drive, and 27, 34 and 30 with all-wheel drive. The round trip from Martinsville to Roanoke on US-220 runs about 102 miles, so that one mpg difference is small in practice.

Martinsville to Roanoke is 51 miles and about an hour, with Rocky Mount as the halfway point. Martinsville to Danville is 30 miles and roughly 36 minutes on US-58. Both are highway-weighted drives, which is where the Kicks posts its better number.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive27 mpg34 mpg30 mpg

Nissan's own 2027 Kicks photography. Steady highway running is where the Kicks posts its better number: 35 mpg highway with front-wheel drive, 34 with all-wheel drive. Martinsville to Roanoke is 51 miles up US-220, the Virgil H. Goode Highway, with Rocky Mount about halfway. No photograph in Nissan's 2027 set shows the Rock Creek package.

EPA estimates only. Actual mileage varies with how you drive, how you maintain the car, and the weather. The figures above are published by the EPA at fueleconomy.gov, not estimated by us. Nissan's 2027 press kit publishes no fuel economy numbers of its own.

Cargo

How much cargo space does the 2027 Nissan Kicks have?

A front-wheel-drive 2027 Nissan Kicks holds up to 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 60 cubic feet with them folded. All-wheel-drive models trade some of it for the multilink rear suspension that comes with the system. Either way it swallows a weekly Collinsville grocery run without folding anything.

Nissan's own 2027 Kicks photography. No photograph in Nissan's 2027 set shows the Rock Creek package. What this frame shows is a standard cargo area with one rear seat section folded flat, and the 60-cubic-foot figure needs both sections down rather than the split pictured. Folded like this it takes the coolers and folding chairs for a race weekend at Martinsville Speedway, a few hundred yards up Greensboro Road from our lot.

Thirty cubic feet behind the back seats is a lot for something 171.9 inches long. For scale, that is most of a Lowe's run on Commonwealth Boulevard without touching the rear seats.

The rear bench splits, so you can fold one side for a set of 2x4s and still carry two passengers. For anything bigger, a roof rack comes with the Rock Creek package, or look at a Rogue or a Frontier instead.

One honest note. Nissan's "up to 30 cubic feet" and "up to 60 cubic feet" are the front-wheel-drive figures. Order all-wheel drive and both numbers come down, because the rear suspension changes.

Inside

What comes standard inside the 2027 Nissan Kicks?

Every 2027 Nissan Kicks gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, up to four USB-C ports, and Nissan Safety Shield 360. The SR adds a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and ProPILOT Assist, which holds the car centered on long US-58 stretches toward Danville.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup. It bundles automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and high beam assist.

Rear automatic braking is not on the S. It is optional on the SV, standard on the SR, and included with the Rock Creek package. Worth knowing if you back out of a tight spot on Church Street every morning.

Other standard items: Rear Door Alert, Easy-Fill Tire Alert, and a D-shaped steering wheel. A 10-speaker Bose Personal Plus system with speakers in the front headrests is available, as is a panoramic moonroof and remote engine start.

Three things the SR adds

  • ProPILOT Assist, which steers to keep the car centered in its lane on the highway
  • A 12.3-inch digital dashboard in place of the standard gauge cluster
  • A touch-sensitive climate panel, LED ambient lighting and sport seats with red and black inserts

It is not the Rock Creek package, and no photograph in Nissan's 2027 set shows that package. ProPILOT Assist, standard on the SR, is the part that earns its keep on the 30-mile US-58 run to Danville.

Driver-assist features have limits. They do not replace the driver, and none of them prevents every collision. Read the Owner's Manual for how each system behaves.

Who it suits

Is the 2027 Nissan Kicks a sensible first car in Henry County?

For a first car in Henry County, where roughly 50,000 people drive to almost everything, yes. The 2027 Nissan Kicks is 171.9 inches long, parks easily in downtown Martinsville, and still carries 8.4 inches of ground clearance for gravel driveways and winter ruts.

Martinsville itself is a town of about 13,000 people. Nothing here requires a three-row SUV, and plenty of what people actually drive on does reward a small crossover with decent clearance and a good camera.

Visibility and parking

Short enough for the angled parking on Main Street. The available Around View Monitor turns the Kroger lot on Commonwealth Boulevard into a non-event for a new driver.

Safety on every grade

Safety Shield 360 is standard on the S, so a first car does not mean a stripped car. Automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring come on all three grades.

Questions

What else do Martinsville drivers ask about the 2027 Nissan Kicks?

Below are straight answers on the 2027 Nissan Kicks: towing, winter traction over the Blue Ridge at Murray Gap, whether the drive up US-58 from Danville is worth making, and how the Gunter Nissan Lifetime Powertrain Program applies. Each one carries the qualifiers that matter.

Can the 2027 Nissan Kicks tow a trailer?

Nissan publishes no towing rating for the Kicks in its 2027 specifications, so treat it as a vehicle you do not tow with. If you need to pull a utility trailer or a boat around Philpott Lake, the Rogue, the Frontier and the Pathfinder are the Nissans to look at instead. Call us and we will point you at the right one.

Will a 2027 Nissan Kicks handle US-220 over the Blue Ridge in winter?

With Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and its Snow drive mode, yes, within reason. The 2027 Kicks carries 8.4 inches of ground clearance on every grade, which is more than most subcompact crossovers. The climb between Cahas Mountain and the Blue Ridge at Boones Mill, and the crossing at Murray Gap, ice before Martinsville does. A front-wheel-drive Kicks on all-season tires is the version to be careful with.

Is the drive from Danville to Gunter Nissan worth it for a Kicks?

Danville has its own Nissan franchise, so we will not pretend we are the closest store to you. The run is 30 miles and about 36 minutes on US-58. It is worth making when we have the exact grade and drivetrain you want sitting on the lot and they do not. Call (276) 956-1212 first and we will tell you honestly whether the drive is worth your Saturday.

Does the Gunter Nissan Lifetime Powertrain Program cover a new Kicks?

The program adds complimentary powertrain coverage on qualified new Nissan vehicles and select pre-owned vehicles bought here, up to four years and up to 60,000 miles. It is conditional, not open-ended. You keep maintenance on the covered components every six months and take a complimentary inspection every 30,000 miles, and European brands are excluded. Ask us to confirm eligibility on the specific car before you sign anything, or read the full program terms.

What is the difference between the Rock Creek package and the SR grade?

They solve different problems. Rock Creek is a package on the SV with all-wheel drive, aimed at gravel and snow: Off-Road drive mode, Hill Descent Control, a roof rack, 17-inch Rock Creek alloy wheels, heated front seats and mirrors. The SR is the top grade and aimed at the highway, with ProPILOT Assist, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, a touch-sensitive climate panel and available 19-inch wheels. You cannot have both on one car.

Where do I get a Nissan Kicks serviced near Martinsville?

Our service lane is at 4760 Greensboro Rd in Ridgeway, open 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday. That is about four miles from downtown Martinsville on US-220. You can schedule service online or call (276) 956-1212.

Can I trade my current car toward a 2027 Nissan Kicks?

Yes. Start with an online estimate through our trade appraisal tool, then bring the car to 4760 Greensboro Rd so we can look at it in person. The online number is a starting point, not a final figure, and condition and mileage move it either way. You do not need an appointment, but calling ahead on a Saturday saves you waiting.
